Check out what Roy Oswald established with the Emotional Intelligence Center for clergy. This is not only an issue of compassion it is also how we clergy emotionally connect with the members of our congregation.

Once upon a time ago, an employee of mine told me that she thought I was more of a giver than a receiver. I instantly agreed with her because I knew I had been raised to believe I could be. I do love giving, and yes it does feel good, especially when you know that you have helped to satisfy someone’s needs. You may have also given them the impetus to help themselves, and even at some point to pass it on.

I’m a person who believes in blessings. I know that I have been blessed many times over. I don’t think it’s because I was simply deserving or more deserving than anyone else. I believe it’s because I am supposed to share what I can with others in need. In a very special way, this is the blessing, and passing those on is my special gift. Once you “feel with” other people you are doing Jehovah God’s work!

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
